Funny how my last post was on my birthday. I liked this blog for its space and time. But I’m onto something new.

Lowest Form of Humor

Did you hear the one about the guy who took his boss to an Indian Restaurant?

He was  trying to curry favor.

Living Through Machines

I’ve been at my new job about a month now.  At work on Sunday an email came into the department Inbox asking for the following:

1) The gS process on server Echo is not responding

2) Please end the task (gstime.exe) and restart the service

Thanks, Hoy

A few others were CC’d on this email, my team, Hoy, and some people in Production I hadn’t met but heard of. Easy task, no problem, I completed it in a few minutes, wrote a quick ‘Reply to All’ saying it was done.

About an hour and a half later, I get the exact same email:

1) The gS process on server Echo is not responding

2) Please end the task (gstime.exe) and restart the service

Thanks, Hoy

What? Again? I so reply to the group,

“Hoy, does this need to be executed again? It was completed at 9:30 this morning.”

I thought the answer would come in a quick confirmation from someone on the email chain. Not so.  I don’t get a reply to my email, only another mass message that has the exact same text as the previous – the two numbered items and Hoy’s sign off. My next thought was, ok, maybe this guy doesn’t speak English, but he knows this piece of text will get the procedure done.

Fine, I’ll just go do it again. Done. I send out an email to the group saying so. Now, it’s Sunday so not everyone in the company is checking their email, but those who have a Blackberry, like my boss, can. Soon after I completed the task a second time, he a reply email to the group saying,

“This email is sent out automatically by the Echo server. Hoy was an employee here that passed away earlier this year.”

Post Haste

You know, I bet nobody has ever used that title.

My job is killing me, or am I killing myself by showing up everyday?  For some reason the fact that it’s my choice, that I am choosing to torture myself for money, makes me feel better.  This guy helps too -

Naming Convension

My lounge band will be called Open Mike and the Seriously Folks.

Also, I believe a new trend will occur in naming rock bands. Redundant adjectives. Observe:

  • The Mute Rats
  • The Four-Legged Dogs
  • The White Snows
  • The Tall Giants
  • The Wet Oceans
  • The Numeric Eights

Anyone else?

Update: Soul still heaving under large weight of job I don’t love.

Company, Man

I got a job doing vague technical work for a fairly well-known technology group specializing in the academic field. So, now I can kick back, not think, and let the grand-kids roll in.

Unless of course, I fuck up and figure out what it is I want to do with my time on Earth. I’m pretty sure the job I was just hired for doesn’t fit. So I am doing nothing. Nothing. I am back in the work zone, that ultra-dimension where you are given currency for a task that may or may not be substantial to the individual doing it. It may be what he or she wants. It may not. Either way, the job needs to be done. I have volunteered myself to be used. I need money and need to be independent. That much is true.

Dust keeps falling on me, spun by the ceiling fan.

New newness

Hey, new post!
I’m really kicking the proveribal dead animal here with this blog.  It’s so…empty.

Back again

Ah, two weeks later and what has happened? Well, not much. Still unemployed. Still looking for a way to get my schedule together. But I think I’m working it out. As long as I do a few things everyday that I know I need to do, then the rest can be done without kicking myself for not doing those things. Wow, it takes a lot for me without this medication.

What can I do? Take the plunge like Adam did? I suppose I could….We’ll see.

PanÁma

Is super cheap and pretty. Recommended.

Regress

Blog blog blog, blog blog.

I´m in Costa Rica in a restaurant with a large tree growing in the middle. Yes, very gimicky. Good pizza.

Hanging out with Wally´s cousin.

Last night a pack of dogs walked us home from the bar.
